Elis Eriksson (1906-2006) had his major break through in the 1960’s and kept developing as an artist throughout his entire life. Eriksson was a very versatile and socially-committed artist, raising his voice against the injustices that he saw and experienced. His work often incites revolt and represents a refusal to submit to repressive norms. The characteristic use of text is for example a way of turning something that normally restricts him, his dyslexia, into a powerful weapon against accepted values. The expressive paintings included in the exhibition were made when Eriksson was 98 years of age and are, naturally, about the current situation in social democratic Sweden and particularly about the care for the elderly.

Elis Erikson (1906-2006) se probio na umetničkoj sceni šezdesetih godina prošlog veka, i nastavio je da se razvija kao umetnik tokom čitavog svog života. Erikson je bio veoma svestran i društveno angažovan umetnik koji je dizao glas protiv nepravdi koje je video i doživeo. Njegova dela često podstiču na revolt i predstavljaju odbijanje da se povinuje represivnim normama. Karakteristična upotreba teksta, na primer, predstavlja način da nešto što ga u normalnim prilikama ograničava, njegovu disleksiju, pretvori u moćno oružje protiv ustaljenih vrednosti. Ekspresivne slike koje su uključene u ovu izložbu nastale su kada je Eriksonu bilo 98 godina i, po prirodi stvari, odnose se na trenutnu situaciju u socijaldemokratskoj Švedskoj, a posebno na brigu o starim licima.
