Chromatic Diet

In Leviathan, Paul Auster describes Maria: “Some weeks she would indulge in what she called `the chromatic diet´, restricting herself to foods of a single colour on any given day.” In order to bring Maria and myself closer together, during the week of December 8-14, 1997 I decided to go by the book.

To be like Maria during the week of December 8 to 14, 1997, I ate orange on Monday, red on Tuesday, white on Wednesday and green on Thursday. Since Paul Auster had given his character the other days off, I made Friday yellow and Saturday pink. As for Sunday, I decided to devote it to the full spectrum of colours, setting out the six menus tested over the week for six guests.

Hromatska dijeta

U Levijatanu, Pol Oster opisuje Mariju: “S vremena na vreme bi se po nedelju dana podvrgavala nečemu što je nazivala ’hromatska dijeta’, određenog dana bi jela samo hranu jedne određene boje”.  Želela sam da se približim Mariji u nedelji od 8. do 14. decembra 1997, pa sam odlučila da kupim knjigu.

Kako bih bila kao Marija u nedelji od 8. do 14. decembra 1997, u ponedeljak sam jela narandžasto, u utorak crveno, u sredu belo, a u četvrtak zeleno. Pol Oster je svom liku posle dao slobodne dane, a ja sam u petak imala žuti dan, a u subotu ružičasti. A što se nedelje tiče, odlučila sam da je posvetim celom spektru boja, pa sam postavila sto za šest gostiju sa šest jelovnika koje sam isprobala u toku nedelje.
