When I lived in a dictatorial regime in the early seventies, the street actions were born in my mind. If someone had asked me why I didn’t realize these ideas I would have answered, I was afraid. Fear saved me from becoming a hero. Later there was no reason to be afraid, so I realized these actions in the streets to tell the people something, but they went away without a word. Their impassivity saved me from becoming a hero.

The artist paints a picture; it is photographed and afterwards reproduced in a catalogue or a book. I take over this process by “reproducing” the image directly onto the canvas and by adding all exact information about the picture as well as an enlarged detail.

Cézanne always painted what he saw. This is absolutely normal. I do the opposite: I paint what I do not see, the perception of the absence of a painting. This is also absolutely normal.
